HSE and Working Well Together (WWT) South West Group is staging a free event¹ on Tuesday 16th May at Cheltenham Racecourse for the self-employed, smaller (employing fewer than 16) construction companies and small design practices to inform on how health and safety and sustainability go hand in hand.
It is the 2nd in a series of Safe & Sustainable Awareness Days (SSADs). On this occasion Future Foundations, who promote sustainable construction, together with the WWT team, will show how addressing health and safety issues and sustainable challenges together will reduce the impact on our environment and human health. For more information visit the Working Well Together website.

¹ The seminar has been organised by a partnership including The Federation of Master Builders, CITB, Faber Maunsell and other major contractors, Envirowise, Gloucestershire County County and The Environment Agency.

Comment:
"Help is on hand for small businesses, both contractors and designers, to better understand the challenges of future building. Sustainability is becoming the new industry buzzword, but few really understand what it means or involves for them.
Likewise health and safety is seen as a problem not a solution. However, by bringing these 2 elements together this event shows how benefits in one area lead directly to benefits in the other. Both protecting those who construct our environment and providing better finished products for those who have to live in it.
Fundamentally the future of our towns and cities lies in safe and sustainable construction. I urge small companies to get onboard as soon as possible." - HSE Principal Inspector of Construction for the South West.
